Hey guys,
Want to see a really cool example of DIY home automation? A true DIY-er named Chauncey Frend put together a completely home-brew home automation system using a Phidget, AS3, python, AIR, PHP, and MySQ. In this video, Frend shows his completely home-brew system that he built for about $50 (hint: it doesn’t use any X10 or Insteon modules, and he wrote the script for the automation). While you probably will use pre-existing protocols in your own home, it’s always neat to see technology de-constructed.
Did you see those USB phidgets? Those have the potential of adding a whole layer of customization to your home.
If you have a second, leave a comment below the video and let me know if you liked this! I’ll use your feedback to drive the content I share with you in the future.
Talk soon,
Anthony
